For the 2024-2025 school year (Cohort 1), UWA serves as a sponsor for apprenticeship in:
- Secondary English Language Arts
- Secondary Social Studies
- Secondary General Science
- Secondary Biology
- Secondary General Studies
- Secondary Math
- Elementary Education
This overarching document establishes the University of West Alabama as a sponsor of registered apprenticeship programs. In part, it describes the obligations of the sponsor and how they commit to meet the requirements of a registered apprenticeship program.
By completing this document in conjunction with an apprenticeship sponsor, an employer agrees to join the apprenticeship program and adhere to the requirements set forth in the program. This document is only provided for reference and any employer seeking to join an apprenticeship must directly communicate with the apprenticeship sponsor.
This document will be completed by the applicant desiring to be considered for apprenticeship. This is a multi-step application and apprentices must take responsibility for following the workflow flow described in the application. Prospective apprentice applicants may only apply to sponsors with whom their employer has a signed Employer Acceptance agreement.
This version of the document is not finalized and is only provided as an early reference for potential applicants to review and begin familiarizing themselves.
All teacher apprentices must be accepted into a participating sponsor’s teacher preparation program.
