The Alabama Office of Apprenticeship (AOA) is dedicated to expanding and enhancing apprenticeship opportunities across the state.

Recognized in March 2020 as a State Apprenticeship Agency (SAA) by the U.S. Department of Labor, the AOA works closely with employers, educators, workforce development agencies, and industry leaders to develop high-quality, demand-driven registered apprenticeship programs while also supporting a broad range of work-based learning initiatives.

Our mission is to create pathways that connect individuals to sustainable careers while equipping businesses with a skilled and competitive workforce. Through collaboration with industry partners, the AOA ensures that apprenticeships align with Alabama’s high-wage, high-demand job sectors, fostering economic growth and workforce innovation.

The AOA provides technical assistance, program development support, and compliance oversight to ensure that registered apprenticeship programs meet industry standards and provide apprentices with structured, hands-on training. By promoting the broadest possible access to apprenticeship opportunities, the AOA is committed to empowering individuals to achieve economic mobility and career success. Additionally, the AOA works to expand and enhance all forms of work-based learning, helping individuals gain valuable skills and real-world experience that prepare them for long-term career pathways.

With a vision to make Alabama a national leader in workforce development, the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship continues to strengthen the state’s talent pipeline, drive business success, support economic growth, and build a thriving workforce for the future.
